Team Novo Nordisk Targets Tour of California As Race of the Year

The Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) announced yesterday that Team Novo Nordisk is one of the 16 teams invited to the 12th edition of the Tour of California.

The team will be looking to gain some impressive results at this year's race.

Team Novo Nordisk (USA) will join Cofidis, Solutions Crédits (FRA), UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team (USA), Jelly Belly p/b Maxxis (USA) and Rally Cycling (USA) along with 11 WorldTour teams it was announced this week.

Elite Men's and Women's Teams Carrying World and National Champions and Olympic Medalists Will Compete in California in May.

Team selections have been finalized by AEG, producer and presenter of the 2017 Amgen Tour of California (May 14-20) and the Amgen Breakaway from Heart DiseaseTM Women's Race empowered with SRAM (May 11-14).

America's most prestigious cycling event joins the UCI WorldTour this year with 11 WorldTour teams containing some of the world's most decorated cyclists, including first-ranked, California-based BMC Racing Team. Three Pro Continental and two Continental teams round out the event.

AEG, producer and presenter of the 2017 Amgen Tour of California, May 14-20, and the Amgen Breakaway from Heart DiseaseTM Women's Race empowered with SRAM, May 11-14, announced a multi-year agreement with the technically-innovative cycling apparel brand, ASSOS of Switzerland, to provide official race jerseys and staff uniforms for the annual professional cycling events.

The partnership includes creation of race-week executive and broadcast team apparel and staff uniforms as well as exclusivity in the tech apparel category.

The 2017 Amgen Tour of California will mark the start of a new five-year commitment and feature some of the best professional cycling teams in the world racing from Northern to Southern California, May 14-20. The four-day Amgen Breakaway from Heart DiseaseTM Women's Race empowered with SRAM will begin in South Lake Tahoe, California on May 11 and conclude May 14 in Sacramento just prior to Stage 1 of the men's race. 

Lexus first became a partner of North America's most prestigious cycling stage race in 2015.

Women’s and men’s premier stage race brings the world’s most talented and popular cycling stars back to California.

Former champions Kristin Armstrong, Jens Voigt and Freddie Rodriguez named Official Race Ambassadors.

The men's race is 7 stages from May 14 to May 20th and contains over 575 miles of racing. The women's race is 4 stages from May 11th to May 14th and contains over 256 miles of racing.

The L’Etape California by le Tour de France on April 30th, allows cycling enthusiasts to ride Stage 5 from Ontario to Mount Baldy that will be ridden by the Pro's on Thursday May 18th.

Through more than 80 miles and 11,000 feet of elevation gain, riders will navigate the beautiful mountain roads of north Los Angeles in a quest to reach the summit of Mt. Baldy, a famous landmark for California outdoor enthusiasts and also an Amgen Tour of California summit finish for the May 2017 race. California Votes on $8bn worth of Cycling Infrastructure Projects

As millions of Americans go to the polls to elect their next President, California voters will also decide whether to approve 11 transport schemes worth over $8 billion dollars.

Increasing the rate of tax to fund the projects is behind 10 of the 11 ballots in California.

Sacramento, the state’s capital which regularly hosts the Tour of California, is voting whether to increase sales tax by half-a-cent for the next 30 years to implement cycling master plans.

Peter Sagan and Mount Baldy return for the 2017 Amgen Tour of California

The 2017 the Amgen Tour Of California route has been revealed.

The Queen Stage from Ontario will feature a dramatic climax with the 26 mile climb of Mount Baldy. This stage will also allow amateur riders to test their mettle on L’Etape du California Gran Fondo which will precede the professional race on May 18th.

Two times World Champion and 2015 Tour of California winner Peter Sagan will return.

Alaphilippe wins Tour of California as Mark Cavendish sprints to final stage victory

Mark Cavendish won a richly deserved stage, beating both Sagan and Kristoff by two bike lengths.

Julian Alaphilippe sprinted to 11th place, and so he won his first ever stage race with a 21-second advantage over Rohan Dennis (BMC). Brent Bookwalter was 22 seconds further adrift in third.

Sagan won the points competition and Evan Huffman (Rally) was the best climber. Neilson Powless (Axeon) lost time due to the late crash but still won the white jersey. BMC took a dominant win in the teams classification.
