Experience The Essence Of The Tour De France In California this April 30th. L’Etape California by Le Tour de France is a ride designed to challenge cyclists on a course comparable to an Alps Mountain stage of the world’s most well-known cycling race.

Through more than 80 miles and 11,000 feet of elevation gain, riders will navigate the beautiful mountain roads of north Los Angeles in a quest to reach the summit of Mt. Baldy, a famous landmark for California outdoor enthusiasts and also an Amgen Tour of California summit finish for the May 2017 race. Cyclists are encouraged to sign up to enjoy a challenging and memorable day of French food, sights, sounds, and riding like a Tour de France champion!

California Votes on $8bn worth of Cycling Infrastructure Projects

As millions of Americans go to the polls to elect their next President, California voters will also decide whether to approve 11 transport schemes worth over $8 billion dollars.

Increasing the rate of tax to fund the projects is behind 10 of the 11 ballots in California.

Sacramento, the state’s capital which regularly hosts the Tour of California, is voting whether to increase sales tax by half-a-cent for the next 30 years to implement cycling master plans.

Peter Sagan and Mount Baldy return for the 2017 Amgen Tour of California

The 2017 the Amgen Tour Of California route has been revealed.

The Queen Stage from Ontario will feature a dramatic climax with the 26 mile climb of Mount Baldy. This stage will also allow amateur riders to test their mettle on L’Etape du California Gran Fondo which will precede the professional race on May 18th.

Two times World Champion and 2015 Tour of California winner Peter Sagan will return.

Alaphilippe wins Tour of California as Mark Cavendish sprints to final stage victory

Mark Cavendish won a richly deserved stage, beating both Sagan and Kristoff by two bike lengths.

Julian Alaphilippe sprinted to 11th place, and so he won his first ever stage race with a 21-second advantage over Rohan Dennis (BMC). Brent Bookwalter was 22 seconds further adrift in third.

Sagan won the points competition and Evan Huffman (Rally) was the best climber. Neilson Powless (Axeon) lost time due to the late crash but still won the white jersey. BMC took a dominant win in the teams classification.

Alexander Kristoff wins King Stage in bunch sprint as Alaphilippe holds onto Yellow Jersey

The King Stage of the Tour of California saw race leader Alaphilppe chasing down several attacks including Rohan Dennis (BMC). 

Peter Sagan attacked the breakaway but sat up with 14 miles to go and joined the peleton for a bunch sprint.

Team Katusha lead Kristoff out to take the bunch sprint by a tire width over Sagan.

Rohan Dennis wins Time Trial as Alaphillipe holds onto Yellow Jersey

Rohan Dennis set the fastest time 24m 16". 17 seconds faster than Andrew Talansky. Alaphilippe finished in a a time of 25m 1 secs to stay in the yellow jersey in front of Rohan Dennis by just 16 seconds.

It looks as if BMC will have to attack Alaphilippe on Stage 7, the King Stage inspired by Levi's Gran Fondo.

Toms Skujins (Cannondale) wins Stage 5 up to South Lake Tahoe in the Tour of California

24 year old Latvian Toms Skujins (Cannondale) outsprinted Adam de Vos (Rally Cycling) ahead of Xabier Zandio (Sky).

BMC and Trek-Segofredo worked hard to bring the breakway back but to no avail.

The three rode ahead of an 16 man breakaway that managed to stay away from the peleton until the final mile.

Sagan takes his second win on stage 4 at the Laguna Seca Raceway

Sagan took his second bunch sprint after numerous attacks on the final category 3 climb to the Laguna Seca Raceway. 

Several attacks on the final climb were brought back by BMC.

With 210 meters to go Sagan weaved his way to the front to take the final sprint ahead of BMC's Greg Van Avermaet.

Alaphillipe wins Tour of California Queen Stage up Gibraltar Road

Julian Alaphillipe (Etixx - Quick Step) attacked reminents of the peleton on the upper slopes of Gibraltar Road to chase down Peter Stetina (Trek-Segafredo) on the final kilometre of the climb.

He caught Stetina with 350m to go. Stetina tried to keep on Alaphillipe's wheel but Alaphillipe went again and took the stage ahead of Stetina and Powless.

Ben King (Cannondale) wins stage 2 of the Tour of California after a long breakaway

The 2nd stage from South Pasadena to Santa Clarita was 92 miles with over 11,000 feet of climbing.

On the second climb of the day, up Upper Big Tujunca Canyon, a break of 4 riders Evan Huffman (Rally), Benjamin King (Cannondale), Sindre Lunke (Giant-Team Alpecin), William Barta (Axeon Hagens Berman) formed after 32 miles.

Huffman and King managed to stay away all day, with only 8 seconds back to the peleton on the finish line where King outsprinted his surviving breakaway companion Huffman.
