La Cerdanya Cycle Tour confirms the leaders of the Gran Fondo World Tour 2017 ®

The Catalan Pyrenees hosted over 500 participants at the La Cerdanya Cycle Tour 2017.

A sunny but cold day, cyclists completed one of three distances available, with departure and arrival in the town of Alp, in the province of Girona, near the Spanish-French border in the majestic and idyllic Pyrenees. 

The Gran Fondo route consisted of 200 km and a brutal 3,690 meters of elevation, with tough climbs including Lles de CerdanyaColl de la Llosa and the highest point of the race at 1866 meters and the last climb, up to Collada de Toses. Other distances catered for all abilities of cyclists; the 158km Medio Fondo  and the 120km Sport Fondo.

Norwegians Jonas Orset and Siv Elin Saeteren retained their leader jerseys after the tough 200km Spanish cycle race in the Pyrenees

Last chance to be inside Gran Fondo World Tour ® 2017 ranking, this September 3rd at the La Cerdanya Cycle Tour in the Spanish Pyrenees.

The current leaders will be present, Siv Elin Saeteren for the woman.

For the men Jonas Orset will compete with Knut Sande (2016 winner) for the final mens leadership . It will be an exciting battle on a high, 200 km mountain stage.

There are three distances available (120, 158 and 200 kms) across the Catalan-French Pyrenees with five tough mountain passes.

La Cerdanya Cycle Tour, taking place on September 3rd, in the southern France Pyrenees, will be only Spanish event in the 2017 to Gran Fondo World Tour series.

The second edition of cyclosportive event La Cerdanya Cycle Tour opens early registration and offers a new 158 km route.Three routes of 128 km and 1,889m of climbing, 158 km and 2,794m of climbing.

The “endurance” distance of 200 km with 3,690 m of climbing giving 1000, 750 and 500 points for Gran Fondo World Tour ® 2017 ranking for the winners.

The 5th event of the Gran Fondo World Tour is the La Cerdanya Cycle Tour, with 3 different distances (200, 146 and 120 km) and several mountain climbs, that will challenge you between the Spanish and French Pyrenees.

After three continents of North America, Central Asia, and Europe with Italy (Marcialonga) and Norway (Styrkeproven); Siv Elin Betsi Saerten for the Woman and Jonas Orset for the men, have become the new World Tour leaders.

They will be in Spain pushing for the top positions in the world ranking.

Styrkeproven Ladies Edition - a ground breaking success for Womens Cycling

The Ladies Edition, a concept where female riders participated in the Styrkeprøven from Lillehammer to Oslo, the Norwegian leg of Gran Fondo World Tour ® Series.

This year, the Styrkeprøven Gran Fondo hosted a ground breaking change in womens cycling by hosting a race team and a  cyclosportive group.

Together, these two groups were represented by 150 women from 8 different nationalities between the age of 17-69 years.

Styrkeproven Peugeot Grand Prix sets new GFWT leaders

Good weather for the six thousand participants who took part in the 2017 Styrkeproven. Friday night's early starts in Trondheim had soft rain, but Saturday saw sunny, warm  temperatures for all participants in the 5 distances.

The winners of longest 540 km distance, and new Gran Fondo World Tour ® Series leaders are: Siv Elin Betsi Saeteren in the womans category and Jonas Orset in the mens category.

Next stop for the Gran Fondo World Tour ® Series is the La Cerdanya Cycle Tour in Spain on September 3rd.
