Over 2,500 cyclists rode the 8th edition of the Granfondo Garneau-Québecor

Trois-Rivières, Quebec, Canada, August 14th - Over 2,500 cycling enthusiasts and experienced athletes took part in the 8th annual edition of the Granfondo Garneau-Québecor presented by Cascades.

Riders cycled from the Alphonse-Desjardins Sports Center in Trois-Rivières 100km's to the finish line atthe Louis Garneau Sports factory in St-Augustin-de-Desmaures. Several groups were formed according to cyclists’ average riding speeds.

Olivier Piché finished first at the Granfondo Garneau-Québecor in 3h 37sec. just ahead of Mathieu Fillion and Alex Harvey for the men. Fastest women was cyclist Helene Pilote-Fortin in a time of 03h 1m 24sec ahead of Isabelle Gagnon and Melissa Pellicelli.

Since its creation in 2009 by Louis Garneau, the Granfondo has been very much involved in the community to support the Little Brothers organization. In seven years, over $380,000 have been donated to the Foundation taking the total well in excess of $420,000 dollars this year.
