Stage 3

Thursday February 02 2017 - Dubai to Al Aqah - 200 km Flat

At 200 kilometres, the route of the 3rd stage in the 2017 Dubai Tour leads to Al Aqah, a coastal resort on the Gulf of Oman. Although the riders face a small climb halfway a bunch sprint seems unavoidable.

It’s a debute for Al Aqah in the Dubai Tour. The arrival place lies to the north of Fujairah, capital of the emirate with the same name. Last year the 1st stage of the Dubai Tour finished here with Marcel Kittel powering to victory. In doing so, the took German the blue leader’s jersey. Eventually he did win the race.

Fujairah is the most mountainous of the seven emirates and halfway through the stage the riders have to climb to an elevation of 450 metres. Yet, the fast men should not have to worry as the climb is not too steep. Moreover, the race concludes with a flat section along the coast.

Time bonuses of 10, 6 and 4 seconds lay waiting on the line. Two intermediate sprints – after 38.6 and 181.9 kilometres – in the 3rd stage of the 2017 Dubai Tour come with 3, 2 and 1 second each.

The stage starts at 10:50 and the finish is expected around 15:20, both local times.
