Gorge Roubaix Results 2015
This year saw the introduction of the brand new Gorge Gravel Grinder Ride to complement the Pro race.
This mass start Gravel Gran Fondo event was open to everyone. Riders chose from 2 courses, that Break Away Promotions provided, to support and maximize everyone's challenge and fun. They had great mechanics on course to keep everyone rolling and well stocked aid stations to keep everyone fueled. The event was timed so everyone on the ride had the chance of winning prizes for the top men and women finishers.
The Big Grinder course was for anyone looking for the ultimate challenge. This course is the exact same one that the Pro/Elite men's field will tackled earlier in the day. Riders got compare their finishing time with the pros or take their time and enjoy the food, scenery, and amazing roads.
Those who did not have a stellar winter training season opted for the Short Grinder which was 50 miles but still provided lots of challenge with a little less suffering.
Everyone who registered for the Gravel Grinder received a ton of cool stuff and got to enjoy the post race party and festivities at Clock Tower Ales afterwards.
The 75 mile course had 6120 feet of leg burning climbing in it. The riders started in Downtown The Dalles and proceeded south on a network of paved and gravel roads up to near the summit of Tygh Ridge. From the top reaches of the course riders had spectacular views of Mt. Hood, Mt. Adams, Mt. St. Helens, and even Mt. Rainer. The course had two gravel sections, the first totaling 14.3 miles and the second totaling 16.2 miles. making up 40% of the total course mileage. There was 3 aid stations along the course to support the riders.
The course was 48 miles with 3422 feet of climbing. Short course had one gravel section that was a total of 9.9 miles of gravel or 20% of the course being gravel. There was two aid stations supporting the Short Grinder.
