Cooke and Gilmore To Line Up In Mars Australian Gran Fondo Champs
The inaugural MARS Australian Gran Fondo Championship field will feature two of Australia's former top international riders with Baden Cooke and Rochelle Gilmore confirming their entries.
Cooke, the 2003 Tour de France green jersey winner and former Herald Sun Tour champion, and the 2010 Commonwealth Games gold medallist and former Giro d'Italia stage winner Gilmore, will join hundreds of amateur riders on the start line on Saturday.
Riders will be able to challenge themselves on the iconic 10.2km loop of Mt Buninyong, which will already be set up for the U23 Men, Elite Women & Elite Men’s road races.
"This event is a great opportunity for all cyclists to race the same course as the pros of Australian cycling on closed roads," said Cooke who last rode in 2013 and finished inside the top ten twice.
"It is going to be great to feel experience the atmosphere of RoadNats again and also go up against some of the cyclists I ride with in bunch rides on the weekends."
Entries are still open!
