Lachlan Morton (Jelly Belly) secures overall Tour of the Gila Win

Lachlan Morton (Jelly Belly) had held onto the leader's jersey for the final stage 5 - the Gila Monster race. 

Known to be a tough hilly stage that would certainly decide the overall winner and test the mettle of the riders, it featured 100.6 miles with 9,131 feet of climbing. Two bonus sprints and five KOMS (one Cat 1, two Cat 2, and three Cat 3 KOM.)

Janier Acevedo (Jamis) and Daniel Jaramillo (UnitedHealthcare) broke away on the final climb to battle it our for the stage win. Jaramillo grabbed the stage win with Tao Geoghegan Hart (Axeon Hagens Berman) coming third.

Race leader Lachlan Morton (Jelly Belly) finished in the small group behind the stage winners to secure overall GC victory with Alex Cataford (Silber) second overall and Rob Britton (Rally) third.

In the owmens race, Mara Abbott won the stage and overall GC, with Scotti Lechuga (Hagens Berman – Supermint) second on the stage and Mindy McCutcheon (Canyon – Shimano) third.
