European Gran Fondo racing restarts in Cyprus this June
As Europe opens backup after coronavirus, the 8th edition of the uphill 0-2000 is back on Sunday 14th of June. Who will be the 2020 King and Queen of the Mountain? Are you a contender?
After eight successful events, the challenging road event, the "0-2000" is back on Sunday 14th of June 2020. The hardest and most challenging Road Cycling race in Cyprus has a name and this is "0-2000".
There are many roads that start at sea level and can take you up the top of the Cyprus Mountains, the Olympus peak at almost 2,000m above sea level. The route chosen is the shortest thus the steepest, most scenic and toughest route to the top, racing 39.6 miles from sea level up 7,125 feet to the top of Olympus Peak.
The race starts in Limassol at MyMall, and heads towards Kolossi, Kouris Dam, passes through the scenic rural roads of Lofou, Pera Pedi and Platres to finish on the top of Troodos, the Olympus peak. After the finish, the participants will have the time to relax in Troodos Square before heading back to the starting point by bus (optional).
There are three aid stations on route with hydration and nutrition.
Cyprus has removed COVID-19 restrictions, allowing incoming flights from 19 countries across Europe exclusing the United Kingdom and Russia.
Cre you a road cycling beginner? The “0-1000” race will give you the opportunity to challenge yourself while enjoying a beautiful day on the Troodos mountains. The participants will will ride the long and continuous climb towards Lofou village, pass through the scenic rural roads of Lofou, before reaching the finish line just after Pera Pedi village, 49.5km from the start line.
