VIDEO: Texas Cyclist attacked by Pipe-Wielding Manic
Rider was trying new trail in Texas when he was attacked. Attacker arrested and could face 20 years in prison for the unprovoked attack
A 46-year-old cyclist was attacked on a bike path in Texas by a man with a metal pipe on Wednesday. The rider was heading down the new the Mason Creek trail that helps cyclists ride separately from cars.
Steve Blum was riding his Specialized Roubaix, and when he saw a man walking close to the path, shouted “rider on the left” to alert him.
Blum then headed all the way to the end of the trail and turned around to head back home. Except this time, he saw the man again, brandishing a metal pipe. Blum caught the whole incident on his bike camera which he handed to police.
Blum was shaken and obviously surprised by the attack. “I’d never seen him before,” Blum said. I don’t get out on the trail very much either. I don’t really know his motivation, not that it really matters.”
Police later arrested a 29-year-old man, named Zachary Nulisch and he now faces 20 years in prison if convicted of agravated assault with a deadly weapon.
He was bailed and is due to appear in court.
