British Colombia province helps support cycling events after Pandemic
After two years of cancellations, scaled-down events and postponements, the City of Penticton should see a strong return of cycling festivals for 2022
The Government of B.C. announced they will be providing $1.06 million in grants towards the local celebrations.
Nearly $30 million will be spent through one-time grants to eligible event organizers to support their efforts to resume safely as part of B.C.’s Fairs, Festivals and Events Recovery Fund.
Applications were accepted from August 27th to October 1st 2021, for events that were scheduled between July 1, 2021, and Sept. 30, 2022.
Grants were given to those who could demonstrate the economic and social benefits to the community and strong local or regional support.
Operational costs, health and safety measures, venue rental, marketing, wages and promotion will be covered in the funding. Funding could cover up to 20 per cent of the total event budget, for a maximum of $250,000 for each event.
These are the 22 events in Penticton that will receive funding, 3 of which are well respected cycling events and Ironman Canada which is a triathalon.
