FoCo Fondo is back on July 24th

FoCo Fondo is back on July 24th for Year 7 in Fort Collins, Colorado, with a new look, and taking back the word “fondo.” This is not an old, stodgy, leather chamois, road race ride. This is a foot out, flat out, dirt, gravel, mixed terrain, make it to the finish and win a bolo tie kind of event.  Ride it, race it, or something in between. It’s an event for the people…the bike lovin’ people.

There are five route options in 2022 with approximate mileage of 12, 25, 50, 107, and 140 miles. The shortest of routes include volunteer guides to help shepherd the kiddos up for a challenge. All other routes are rolling with big views of the mountains. Enjoy the ride, compete in the Strava segments, go for the iconic bolo tie, or race the whole thing for cash and age-group podiums.

“Our goal is to focus on the unifying power of bikes: they are a gateway to rad adventures and there are so many ways to consume them. We try to provide resources and tools for especially newer riders to feel confident and a part of a sometimes initially intimidating space,” says co-promoter Whitney Allison.

When you finish, enjoy a cold Fat Tire by New Belgium Brewing, along with tacos from cyclist-loving Rio Grande Mexican Restaurant while kicking back recounting the day listening to live local music. The festival is full of top-of-industry pals like ENVE, WTB, Joje Bar, Eliel Cycling as well as funky local favorites and kids activities.

The fun doesn’t stop there. Leading into the event, join FoCo Fondo on their free community training ride series, women’s ride, and pre-event activities July 23rd. For historically disenfranchised riders, be sure to check out their initiatives for a scholarship program and a special volunteer program to “earn” an entry for riding in 2022 if it is financially out of reach. Kids 12 and under continue to be free and teens are half priced.
