REGISTRATION OPEN FOR 2026 GFNY COZUMEL — THE ORIGINAL GFNY WORLD CLASSIC
GFNY Cozumel, one of the longest-running and most iconic races in the GFNY World calendar, has officially opened registration for its 13th edition, taking place on November 8, 2026.
First held in 2014, GFNY Cozumel was among the very first GFNY events to launch outside the USA, helping establish the global Gran Fondo movement that now spans more than 30 countries.
Over the past decade, Cozumel, a small Caribbean island located off the eastern coast of Mexico, has become the bucket-list race for riders seeking a unique blend of high-speed competition, tropical scenery, and world-class organisation. The course is famous for its flat, fast profile and its spectacular loop around the island’s stunning coastline, where turquoise water, palm-lined roads, and roaring local support create one of the most memorable atmospheres in amateur cycling.
Each year, between 3,000 and 4,000 cyclists from around the world descend on Cozumel to test themselves against the island’s winds, the elite-level pace at the front, and the festive GFNY energy that fills San Miguel from start to finish. The event has earned a reputation for delivering both a true race for the competitive and an unforgettable challenge for riders of all levels.
The 2026 edition promises the same hallmark experience: a professionally organised Gran Fondo, closed roads, chip timing, and the signature GFNY green wave rolling through one of Mexico’s most vibrant cycling destinations.

Two Breathtaking Courses
The GFNY Cozumel course is a full-island spectacle, offering riders sweeping Caribbean panoramas, endless turquoise coastline, and the kind of tropical winds that can turn a fast day into a tactical battle. Riders can choose between two distances: the Long Course, a 154 km two-lap circuit around the island, or the Medium Course, a 77 km single-loop that delivers the same breathtaking scenery in a shorter challenge.
Both routes showcase Cozumel at its best — white-sand beaches, crystal-blue water, palm-lined roads, and the legendary support of the island’s residents, who come out in huge numbers to cheer, shout, drum, dance, and push every rider toward the finish line. It’s one of the most atmospheric courses in the GFNY World series, where the island feels like one continuous festival.
The Long Course is the official race distance, and only its finishers are eligible for category rankings, overall standings, and podium awards. Riders aiming to compete — or to earn a coveted spot in the Qualifier Corral at any GFNY World event — must complete the full 154 km. As always, the top 10% of finishers in each age group secure their place in the Qualifier Corral, making Cozumel not only a stunning ride but a strategic opportunity for racers targeting elite starts across the GFNY calendar.

Included in Registration
Every GFNY Cozumel rider enjoys fully closed roads, start-to-finish chip timing, eight fully stocked aid stations, and complete on-course mechanical and medical support, including rolling ambulances, motorcycle marshals, and SAG. Registration includes a European-cut GFNY Cozumel cycling jersey (mandatory race attire), a loaded goodie bag, finisher medals, winner jerseys, unique category-winner medals, and special prizes for Gran Fondo champions. Riders also benefit from a 2-day expo with major international brands, post-race meals and Mexican-style entertainment, and the support of hundreds of volunteers who help make race day unforgettable.
