Panaracer Dirty Reiver Sells Out in Record Six Hours as UK Gravel Boom Continues

Entries for the 10th anniversary Panaracer Dirty Reiver gravel race sold out in just over six hours, event organiser Focal Events confirmed today, marking the fastest sell-out in the company’s history.

Panaracer Dirty Reiver Sells Out in Record Six Hours as UK Gravel Boom Continues

The 2026 edition, set for April 24 in the Kielder and Wark Forests of northern England, will feature the signature Dirty Reiver 200 (200km), Dirty One Thirty (130km) and a 65km route, and is billed by organisers as the largest gravel event in Europe.

Demand for places surged after entries opened earlier than in previous years, drawing a broader geographic spread of riders than in past editions. The routes, inspired by the American Gravel Grinder format, combine off-road challenge with varied terrain and remote scenery — a formula that has proven increasingly popular with both endurance athletes and recreational cyclists.

“We expected entries to move quickly, but given we opened a few months earlier than last year, perhaps not this quickly,” said Bryan Singleton, Co-Event Director at Focal Events. “Not only does it show the continued appetite for the Dirty Reiver, but it also demonstrates the interest in gravel events in the UK generally — especially given we’ve had quite a different geographical spread of riders sign up this year, spanning much more of the country.”

Focal Events is also preparing to open entries for two other major 2026 races later today. At 08:00 BST on September 15, 2025, entries will go live for the SCOTT Frontier 300 and Crankbrothers Gravel Rocks. Riders who sign up for more than one event will receive a 10% discount on their second entry, organisers said.

The SCOTT Frontier 300, scheduled for May 29–30, 2026, is an ultra-distance ‘all-road’ challenge covering 300km from the west coast of Scotland to the east coast of England, crossing the Borders. The event targets seasoned endurance riders looking for a multi-surface test that combines long-distance navigation with demanding terrain.

Crankbrothers Gravel Rocks, set for July 10–12, 2026, will take place over two days at Duncombe Park Estate in the North York Moors. The event blends competitive racing with a strong social element, offering a festival-style atmosphere alongside technical and scenic riding for a wide range of abilities.

Focal Events said it remains committed to growing gravel cycling in the UK while maintaining high standards of route planning, rider safety and environmental stewardship. With the rapid sell-out of the Dirty Reiver and increasing interest in its broader calendar, the company expects demand for gravel events to continue growing through 2026 and beyond.
