Set in the Eastern Sierra Nevada, the event delivers a mix of smooth tarmac, huge mountain vistas, and long stretches of quiet roads that make it a bucket-list ride for endurance cyclists.

Bicycling Magazine has previously ranked it among the Top 10 Century Rides in the United States, and the 2026 edition continues that tradition with fully supported routes, closed-road sections, and a festival-style finish in the heart of Mammoth Lakes.

High Sierra, Big Views, Thin Air

Mammoth Lakes sits at 8,000 feet (2,400m), making this one of the highest-altitude gran fondos in the U.S. Riders can expect crystal-clear mountain air, panoramic views of the Sierra Crest, long, open roads with minimal traffic, dramatic desert-meets-alpine landscapes and Mono Lake and the White Mountains on the horizon. The scenery is the star of the show — and the altitude adds a unique challenge.

Three Route Options for all Abilities

Gran Fondo — 102 miles (164 km)

The signature route: a full century with long, steady climbs, exposed high-desert sections on good pavement, very few stop signs and minimal traffic. Give it a try and test yourself against your friends and the mountains.

Includes 6,804 feet (2,073m) of climbing and 75 miles of closed or low-traffic roads.

Medio — 70 miles (115 km)

Tougher than the Piccolo, more manageable than the 102 mile Gran Fondo, the Medio is a great choice for the rider who has some miles under their chamois, but doesn’t want to attempt a three-digit distance.

Include 3,499 feet (1,066m) of climbing.

Piccolo — 42 miles (64 km)

A shorter but still scenic option, ideal for riders wanting the Mammoth experience without the full century load. Includes 2,252 feet (686m) of climbing

All routes start and finish at The Village at Mammoth, creating a lively, central hub for riders and spectators. At 8,050 ft (2,455 m), it’s one of the highest start lines of any major Gran Fondo in North America!
