Damien Clayton and Honor Elliott take Victory at 2026 Dalby Grit Gravel Race

Dalby Forest delivered a fierce second edition of the Dalby Grit Gravel Race, with fast racing from the gun across 115km of punchy climbs, sweeping descents and long power sections carved into the southern edge of the North York Moors.

The course rewarded strength and nerve in equal measure, and both the men’s and women’s races came down to decisive moves made deep into the forest.

In the women’s race, Honor Elliott rode with trademark precision and control, pacing the early climbs before pushing clear in the final third of the course. Her winning time of 4:14:05 was enough to hold off a charging Nicola Lynch by just sixteen seconds, with Ewa Mitka completing the podium after a consistent and composed ride. Elliott’s victory adds another major gravel result to her season and reinforces her status as one of the strongest all-terrain riders in the UK.

The men’s race saw defending champion Damien Clayton return with intent. After a cagey opening hour, Clayton forced the selection on one of the longer drags through the forest, then committed fully to a solo move that no one could bring back. He crossed the line in 3:20:14 to secure back-to-back Dalby Grit titles. Behind him, Connor Sens and Paddy Chapman sprinted it out for the remaining podium spots, both finishing in 3:22:49 after a hard chase that never quite closed the gap.

Warm weather, fast gravel and a buzzing atmosphere made this second edition feel bigger and more established than ever. Riders and organisers alike left with the sense that Dalby Grit is quickly becoming one of the must-ride gravel events in the UK. As Co-Race Director Neil Atkinson put it, “This weekend proved once again that Dalby Grit is one of the go-to gravel races in the country.”
