Annalisa Prato and Federico Borella take Victory at 2026 Granfondo La Fausto Coppi
Annalisa Prato and Federico Borella delivered commanding performances at the 2026 Granfondo La Fausto Coppi, one of Italy’s most celebrated international cycling events, which once again drew over 3,000 riders to Cuneo for its 37th edition.

The race offered three demanding routes: the 172-kilometre Granfondo with 4,125 metres of climbing, the 111-kilometre Mediofondo with 2,500 metres, and the 101-kilometre Fauniera Classic with 2,100 metres. All three courses revolved around the legendary Colle Fauniera, a 22.3-kilometre ascent rising to 2,481 metres, where riders pass the monument to Marco Pantani. The climb remains the defining feature of La Fausto Coppi, shaping the race every year with its altitude, gradients and emotional weight, and as tradition dictates, every participant wore the official jersey for the duration of the event.
In the men’s Granfondo, 2026 GFNY World Champion Federico Borella (OM.CC) asserted control on the early slopes of the Fauniera, forcing the decisive selection. By the summit he had opened a clear gap over Giacomo Giordano (Bicistore Cycling Team Carcare) and Marco Arnaudo (ASD Velo Caraglio), who were locked together in the chase. Borella extended his advantage on the technical descent and maintained a steady tempo across the final climbs, eventually winning by 7 minutes and 37 seconds over Giordano, with Arnaudo finishing 15 minutes and 24 seconds behind the winner. The top three were never in the same group again after the Fauniera split, with Borella riding solo to the finish while Giordano and Arnaudo fought separate battles behind.
The women’s Granfondo saw an equally decisive performance from Annalisa Prato (OM.CC), who arrived in Cuneo as the reigning L’Étape Piemonte by Tour de France champion and successfully defended her La Fausto Coppi title. Prato set the pace on the Fauniera and crested the summit alone, establishing the winning gap. Behind her, Sarah Palfrader (Team Da-Tor / ISB) and Axel Van Rossum (Individual) formed the main chase, but Prato’s lead continued to grow across the final climbs. She finished with a commanding margin of 27 minutes and 20 seconds over Palfrader, while Van Rossum completed the podium 47 minutes and 22 seconds behind the winner. The splits formed early and never closed, with Prato riding a controlled solo effort from the top of the Fauniera all the way to Cuneo.
The Mediofondo produced its own battles, with Massimiliano Barbero Piantino (OM.CC) leading the men’s race after distancing his rivals on the decisive climbs. Anna Ceoloni (OM.CC) added to the team’s success by taking the women’s Mediofondo title, finishing ahead of a tightly packed chase group that fought for the remaining podium places.
