Daria Franzetti and Matteo Raimondi fastest at 2026 Granfondo Sestriere Colle delle Finestre
The Granfondo Sestriere Colle delle Finestre once again reaffirmed its deep connection to the region and to Italy’s great cycling heritage. The Olympic valleys embraced an event that celebrates participation, personal challenge in the Alta Val di Susa mountains.
At the heart of it all stands the legendary climb of the Colle delle Finestre — 18 kilometres already etched into cycling history thanks to its iconic Giro d’Italia passages, a natural divide between Val Susa and Val Chisone.
It was a clear, bright, almost symbolic day. Under blue skies and surrounded by the majestic scenery of Upper Val di Susa, a thousand cyclists animated the eleventh edition of the Granfondo, the third round of the Gobik circuit, recognised nationally for its ability to showcase exceptional cycling destinations. Perfect weather and impeccable organisation framed a unique route: starting in Cesana Torinese, climbing toward the legendary Finestre, and finishing in the heart of Sestriere at 2,035 metres. Riders chose between two distances — the long course of 103.6 km with 3,170 metres of climbing, and the medium course of 79 km with 2,370 metres.
On the long route, a performance worthy of epic cycling unfolded. Matteo Raimondi, 31, from Piedmont, claimed victory with a courageous and tactically flawless ride. Raimondi lived up to expectations, finishing in 3h21’15”, ahead of Belgian Tim Alleman (3h23’04”) and Fabio Lanzone (3h29’11”). “I dedicate this win to the Loca team and my friends. I trained hard and changed my preparation because I’m not a natural climber. Alleman was stronger on the climbs today, but I made the difference on the descent and believed all the way to the finish,” Raimondi said at the finish in Piazza Fraiteve — exhausted, but glowing with satisfaction.
In the women’s Granfondo, Daria Franzetti dominated, winning solo in 4h43’47”, ahead of Marieke Brinkman Sniekers and Janet Ketellapper.
The Mediofondo saw former professional Mirko Trosino take a brilliant victory in 2h39’58”, with Gioele Gasparetto finishing 37 seconds behind and Andrea Mariani completing the podium. “This place is a paradise — incredible landscapes. I didn’t take on the long route, but arriving in front of the Colle delle Finestre was a great satisfaction,” Trosino said.
In the women’s Mediofondo, Anna Ceoloni claimed a clear victory, finishing fifteen minutes ahead of Rebecca Zauli and Natalia Nazarova.
The Granfondo Sestriere Colle delle Finestre closed with enthusiasm, positive feedback, and the shared feeling of having experienced another day of authentic sport, effort, and beauty. It remains one of the most anticipated events of the Alpine cycling summer — an occasion that blends territory, passion, and the great mountain feats that have shaped cycling history.
