Daniel Martinez win Critérium du Dauphiné after Roglic abandons race

Dani Martinez (EF Pro Cycling) snatched overall victory at the Critérium du Dauphiné after a day of constant attacking and drama in the Alpine climbs around Megeve

American Sepp Kuss (Jumbo-Visma) emerged the strongest to win the 153 km stage with over 4,300m of climbing after his team leader Primoz Roglic abandoned with injuries after his stage 4 crash. Kuss fought all day to stay in contention in the breakaway and then attacked in the final kilometres. His win gave Jumbo-Visma their 17th victory of the 2020 season.

Daniel Martinez finished 27 seconds behind Kuss and it was enough to secure him the winner's yellow jersey.

Behind a desperate Thibaut Pinot (Groupama-FDJ) tried to pull back Martinez but finished 1m 2s behind Kuss, some 29 seconds behind on the line.

Guillaume Martin (Cofidis) dug deep to hold onto third place overall, 41 seconds behind.
