Dylan Groenewegen wins sprint finish at final Tour de France stage in Denmark

The third stage of the Tour de France 2022 was won by Dylan Groenewegen in a four up bike throw with Sagan, Philipsen and Jakobsen on stage 3 of the Tour de Fance into Sønderborg

Dylan Groenewegen wins sprint finish at final Tour de France stage in Denmark

The Dutchman of team BikeExchange-Jayco was the fastest in a hectic bunch sprint into Sønderborg.

Wout van Aert finished second (again) and goes into the first rest day of this Tour wearing the yellow jersey. Jasper Philipsen finished third, with Peter Sagan and Fabio Jakobsen fourth and fifth.

Danish rider Magnus Cort Neilsen (EF Education-EasyPost) delighted the local crowds by breaking away to take the KOM points in the Polka Dot Jersey. He was reeled back in by the peloton in the last 30km of the 182 km flat stage.

Groenewegen said afterwards, "I was a long way back! I want to say thanks to my team, family and friends to bring me back to the Tour in a good shape. It's beautiful."

Stage 4 on Tuesday is the first day back in France, and is a coastal affair with a stage from Dunkirk to Calais, again a sprint finish is expected, but the wind could, once again, play a major part.
