Çesme in Turkey will host the Veloturk Gran Fondo for the sixth time
The amateur road race features breath-taking views of Aegean Sea and Çesme Peninsula this November 5-6
Turkey’s premier bike race return to the roads of Western Turkey on the shoes of the stunning Aegean Sea and Çesme Peninsula this November 5-6, 2022. The event the Turkish round of the Gran Fondo World Tour ® Series.
The ride features two distances suit a wide range of abilities, a 63km Medio Fondo with 863 metres of climbing and a 110 km Granfondo with 1,320m of climbing.
Riders start and finish in front of Çesme Castle and circumnavigate the Çesme Peninsula offering amazing views of the Aegean Sea and continues through popular touristic areas such as Alaçati.
The average temperature in the region is 16C in November with over 11 hours of daylight, perfect for that last season blast of your racing form!
Medio Fondo
The 63km Medio Fondo contains 863 metres of climbing with one aid station.
Entry includes a T-shirt, Food & Drinks at the aid stations, Timing, a Finisher medal and a meal afterwards. There are a wide range of race categories for both men and women from ages 16 up to 65+ years old for youths, elites and masters.
Gran Fondo
The Granfondo of 110km with 1,320m of climbing heads into the hills towards the village of Balikliova ("valley full of fish") with three aid stations along the stunning quiet roads of the Çesme Peninsula.
You can reach Çesme through Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport (ADB) from Istanbul Ataturk (IST), Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen (SAW) and Ankara Esenboga (ESB) airports. Çesme is 7 hours drive from Ankara and 7 hours from Istanbul.
Raising Funds for the Veloturk Charity Project
100% of the entry fees from the Veloturk Gran Fondo will be used to fund Veloturk Charity Project, distributing 2000 bikes for 2000 underprivileged children.
Veloturk is a foundation consisting of five co-founders. Sarper Günsal, Arda Türkmen, Okan Can Yantir, Berkem Ceylan, Aydin Diricanli, besides their professional work lives, aim to participate in challenging bicycle races in Europe throughout the year to create social awareness, and with the sponsorship of some brands, to donate bicycles to the children in Eastern and Southeastern Turkey as gifts for children’s school success.
