Magnus Cort denies the sprinters to win a second consecutive stage at the Tour of Algarve

Magnus Cort was unstoppable on the third stage of the Volta ao Algarve and managed to win a second stage after being part of a late breakaway and withstanding the speeding the peloton that fought to capture him

Magnus Cort denies the sprinters to win a second consecutive stage at the Tour of Algarve

Cort was part of a group of six cyclists who managed to escape the peloton with 24 kilometers left and together they managed to maintain a small gap. Magnus Cort, Filipo Ganna, Tom Pidcock, Tobias Foss, Rui Costa and Valentin Madouas made up this breakaway and fit very well to maintain a decent difference with the majority group.

These six riders worked together and reached the last kilometre with a few seconds of advantage, but Magnus Cort did not want to miss the opportunity for a second stage victory and seeing the peloton approaching, he took the last corner at the head of the group and accelerated alone to take a tremendous stage victory.

Filippo Ganna (Ineos Grenadiers) was second followed by Jordi Meeus (Bora-Hansgrohe).

This victory for Magnus Cort means that his lead in the general classification continues to increase to 18 seconds over Rui Costa (Intermarché-Circus-Wanty), while Ilan Van Wilder (Soudal-QuickStep) drops to third place.
