Two additional events added to the 2024 UCI Gravel Calendar

The 2024 TREK UCI Gravel World Series will now feature a total of 27 events, with the addition of two more events post the new year

The first new event will be Gorilla Gravel in Rwanda on June 8th, starting from the capital city of Kigali. Covering a challenging 108km route with an elevation gain of 2685m, participants will face the difficulties of high altitude, starting at 1500m and finishing above 2200m. This race, scheduled a week prior, is perfect to be combined with the second new African event in nearby Kenya.

The second addition to the UCI Gravel series is set to unfold in Champéry, Switzerland, on September 8th. Known for hosting the MTB XCO world championships and awarded to organize the MTB marathon world championships in 2025, Champéry introduces the Alpine Gravel Challenge on the Swiss French border. The event, encompassing a 97km course with a substantial 4000m elevation gain, features a challenging ascent and a 15km loop through France, making it the most demanding race in the TREK UCI Gravel World Series.

Building on the success of the 2023 season, which saw esteemed winners such as van Aert, Valverde, Vos, Stuyven, Cromwell, Swift, Terpstra, Vakoc, and others, the TREK UCI Gravel World Series are witnessing significant interest. Registrations are now open for most events, with the Gravel Fondo Limburg already sold out with 1500 participants on its new course. Several other races are nearing their participant limits, boasting over 1000 registrations early in the season.

The 2024 UCI Gravel World Championships are scheduled to be held in Belgium on October 5-6. The courses will commence in Halle and finish in the city centre of Leuven where the best riders in their category can again battle for the coveted rainbow jersey.
