Over 500 Cyclists Enjoyed an Oregon Coast Gravel Weekend!
Cyclists enjoyed a long weekend and ride around the Siuslaw National Forest on some of quietest roads in the USA
Sometimes you need to unplug, ride and rejuvenate, and that's what 500 lucky cyclists did last weekend from little coastal towns on Oregon’s Central Coast in Yachats and Waldport at Oregon Coast Gravel Epic on the Saturday and West Coast Gravel on the Sunday.
On the Abomination, Aris Sophocles winner at Sasquatch Duro was beaten by Austen Davis on the 60 mile with 6,600 feet of climbing in a time 3:20:47 with Nick North in third place, the trio finishing within 10 seconds of each other.
In the women's category, Chloë Spritz (PDX Dream Team) was again in winning form soloing to the finish in 3:45:54, 31 mins ahead of Jennifer Bentley (Veterinary Referral Center of Central Oregon) in second and Erin Compton (Crank Queens) in third place
Wesley Cheney was fastest on the shorter 37 mile Son of Abomination that was still physically demanding with 3,740 feet of climbing in 1:56:56 ahead of Andrzej Stadnik in second and Scott Carroll in third place.
In the women's category, Kristina Gray (Dialed Cycling Team) soloed to the finish in a time of 2:18:00 ahead of Emily Hodel (BBG) in second and Sara Halterman (Deschutes Brewery) in third place.

On Sunday it was time for West Coast Gravel and time for participants to Release their Inner Viking! ON the 53 mile Erik the Red loop and the shorter and less gravelled 32 mile Leif Erikson route.
Aris Sophocles was again beaten by Austen Davis for the second day in a row on the Erik the Red in a time 2:42:39 with Jacob Lippert in third place.
In the women's category, Chloë Spritz (PDX Dream Team) was again victorious in a time of 3:03:48 ahead of Angharad Porteous (BicycleAttorney.com) in second with Erin Compton (Crank Queens) in third place again.
ON 32 mile Leif Erikson route, Andrzej Stadnik soloed (*Biciclista US) to the finish in a time of 1:38:21, ahea of Edward Dudlik (Dialed Cycling Team) in second and Will Martin (POA) in third place.
In the women's category, Jennifer Bentley (Veterinary Referral Center of Central Oregon) switched to the shorter course and won in a time of 1:56:26 ahead of Steph Brandt in second and Emily Hodel (BBG) in third place.
All the Champions were awarded custom Pint glasses and trophies, and all participants enjoyed a complimentary beverage and post-event fun including LIVE music, podium awards after each ride.
