Markus and Habets take Victory at 2025 Gravel Grit ‘n Grind Halmstad
700 gravel riders lined up to try and qualify for tyhe UCI World CXhampionships taking place in the Netherlands this October 11-12
Gravel Grit n Grind is a three day stage race in Halmstad, a city located on the western border in the south of Sweden in between Gotenborg and Malmo. Only the event on Saturday (stage 2) counted as official qualifier event for the UCI Gravel World Series. It´s possible to do a single race, two stages or the full three day stage race.
After winning UCI Gravel One Fifty, Dutch rider Jordan Habets (Metec Solarwatt) took overall victory on the 146 km long route on stage 2 in 3:56:30, followed a few seconds later by Anton Stensby (Team Coop-Repsol) in second and Ian Millennium (Cycling Odense) in third place.
Dutch women Femke Markus (Team SD worx - Protime) won the women’s race in 4:34:53 after outsprinting Australian Nicole Frain (Ridley Racing) in second and Irina Lutzelschwab (Team BULLS Swiss) in third place.
Romain Bardet (TEAM PICNIC POST NL), who retired from professional racing after the 2025 Tour de France, finished in 10th place and has qualified for the finals.
