Tadej Pogacar delivered a devastating performance on Stage 6 of the 2026 Tour de France, launching a long-range attack on the Col du Tourmalet and blowing the general classification apart. The UAE Team Emirates-XRG leader surged clear with 43km to go, cresting the climb with a slim advantage, then extending it relentlessly on the descent and final climb to Gavarnie-Gèdre. By the finish, he had put 2:38 into Jonas Vingegaard and reclaimed the yellow jersey in emphatic fashion.

The Slovenian took the Souvenir Jacques Goddet over the top of the Tourmalet, holding just 30 seconds over Vingegaard at that point. But once he committed to the descent, the gap ballooned. Behind, chaos unfolded: Torstein Træen, who started the day in yellow, crashed after losing contact, ending his brief spell in the race lead.

Isaac del Toro produced another superb ride, finishing third and anchoring the chase group containing Remco Evenepoel, Florian Lipowitz, and Paul Seixas. That group crossed the line 2:57 behind Pogacar, marking one of the most decisive early-Tour mountain stages in recent years.

Six days into the race, Pogacar now leads the Tour by 2:42 over Vingegaard, with del Toro, Evenepoel, and Ayuso forming the next wave of contenders. The GC has been reshaped dramatically, and the Tour heads into the Pyrenees with a clear hierarchy — and a dominant yellow jersey.
