After a six-year hiatus, the iconic NYC Century Bike Tour is back. Since its inception in 1990, this one-of-a-kind event has been a celebration of New York City’s vibrant neighborhoods, greenways, and cycling community. For decades, the NYC Century stood as a testament to the transformation of the city’s streets – from a mere handful of bike lanes to over 1,000 miles of cycling infrastructure – powered by the passion of riders and advocates alike.

For thirty years, the NYC Century was more than just a ride; it was a movement. Cyclists from across the city, the country, and the world pedaled through historic streets and scenic parks, forging connections and showcasing the potential of urban cycling. From its early days, when 200 pioneering cyclists blazed a trail, to its final ride in 2019, drawing thousands of participants, the NYC Century captured the spirit of change and progress.

The NYC Century’s one-year return is made possible by the estate of Roger Herz. Roger was one of TA’s five original co-founders and he loved the NYC Century Bike Tour. When he passed away in 2022, his family decided to honor his legacy as a cyclist by bringing back his favorite ride one more time. We will ride in Roger’s memory this September on what we’re calling the Roger Herz Memorial NYC Century Bike Tour.
