Great weather for a gravel ride, a bit chilly at the start, but dry and a nice autumn sun, but a decent northeast wind that would pick up a bit. TWC de Vélo is organizing their annual gravel tour on the same day that the Gravel World Championships were held. Accident? Probably not. Mathieu van der Poel won his umpteenth world title in Leuven.

Back to the 60 Miles of Meijel. No less than four distances were possible, the 15 km for the kids, always a beautiful sight to see parents busy with their bike-loving children. Then a 60 km route, a 75 km and the longest distance for the diehards is a version of 90 km. More than 250 participants were counted, including a dozen children and 38 Vélo members. Other cycling groups from Meijel also made an appearance of course. Both gravel bikes and many mountain bikes were at the start with their owners. A new and very nice break place at camper place Ondereindt on the Baarloseweg in Helden. Here the participants were well received with coffee, tea and the necessary refreshments. Afterwards a lot of positive feedback about the routes. They were rated as very good. Of course, the good weather also played a role in this, as everything was nice and dry. Afterwards, a glass of Kwaremont and a hearty hamburger was available for each participant at the start and finish location de Heere. They were noticeably well received. A very successful event and the commitment of the necessary volunteers is indispensable, so a big thank you to all volunteers and helpers. See you in 2025 and put the date in your calendar, Sunday 5 October. Along the way, beautiful action photos were taken. Look in the photo album:
