The Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo, the "Friendliest Fondo", is a nonprofit event sponsored by Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Club.  A  "Single Loop Course", beginning and finishing at the beautiful 5 Star St. Eugene Golf Resort & Casino, riders are treated to spectacular scenery at the foot of the Rocky Mountains.  The event has three course options:  Gran Fondo,  152 kms, 1303 metres elevation gain,  Medio Fondo , 102 kms,  685 metres elevation and a Piccolo Fondo of 58 kms, 355 metres elevation.

John Woodsen, aclaimed Bucket List Rider writes;

The Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Club with all the partner organizations and volunteers knocked it out of the park today - a Gran Slam.  The Kootenay Rockies Gran Fondo is a crown jewel on the Canadian Gran Fondo circuit.  Without a doubt, it is bucket list worthy.

The Cranbrook Sunrise Rotary Club is proud to partner with Selkirk Signs as our Title Sponsor.  Our goal is to provide cyclists  a world class Fondo, attract tourists to our region, and raise funds for local charitable endeavours. The 26 km Northstar Rails to Trails dedicated cycling path that connects Cranbrook & Kimberley is an annual recipient of a portion of the event proceeds. Other funds support community service projects in our area. We are committed to using local suppliers and businesses to benefit our community.
