Distances: 60, 100 140 km
Difficulty: Difficult terrain with longer, steeper hills

Starting in the riverside village of Haydon Bridge the route ascends both slopes of the South Tyne Valley, before heading south for Alston and the spectacular panoramas of the North Pennines. It has been carefully chosen to combine a testing cycling experience with the area’s most scenic and historic assets, and participants are guaranteed an unrivalled day out.

The event includes Uses 5 of the 6 highest roads in England. Spectacular High Pennine scenery. Riding up the Alston cobbles.

140km Skyrider Route is a major extension to the Haydon Hundred family of rides. It runs on beautiful smooth and traffic free roads crossing the 1st, 2nd, 5th & 6th highest roads in England. This route is very high and exposed. In bad weather it can become hazardous very quickly and riders are advised to be well prepared for changing weather conditions.

100km Classic Route is not for the faint hearted. With 2000m of climbing  it will be a real challenge. The route skirts Northumberland National Park before passing through Haltwhistle into Alston and its famous cobbled High Street. The cobbles are in good condition and not difficult to ride providing it’s dry! The first 160m averages 13% followed by another 200m at 10%!

60km Challenge Route is a challenging route in its own right with 1000m of climbing in its 60km. It follows the  HH100 route along the Stanegate before dropping down into the Tyne Valley and following the old road along the valley to the feed station in Haltwhistle. From there it follows the HH100 again as it climbs high up the south side of the valley to Plenmeller common before heading along a fantastic ‘top of the world’ ridge heading east before a dramatic descent down into the Allen Valley. It then follows the main road from Whitfield back up the hill to rejoin  the other routes at the Carts Bog Inn and a return back over the tops to Haydon Bridge.
