Burnt Bridge Classic Gravel Fondo

Burnt Bridge Classic Gravel Fondo

September 24 2022
Vancouver Island, BC, Canada
Status: The date for the event has not yet been confirmed.
Its been 21 years, but....hey.....better late than never. For those of us who have been kicking the can around for a while, there was one epic cycling event in the 1990’s that was on everyone’s calendar, the Burnt Bridge Classic. Back then, Shawnigan Lake hosted a mountain bike race organized by ProCom that attracted hundreds of racers from all 4 corners and appealed to all ages and abilities. Race organizer and MTB pioneer Dave Smith elevated the event to legendary status and featured many local racers who eventually became world class athletes. For many, it brought people together and created new friendships and lasting memories.
Sadly the original Burnt Bridge Classic MTB trails have since gone, but we have taken upon ourselves to rekindle the spirit of the event into an epic Gravel Fondo.
In partnership with Mosaic Forest Management, we have been given exclusive access to gravel roads located West/North West of Shawnigan Lake and have put together two epic routes to cater to your abilities. If you like hills.....we got you covered.
Both rides will launch and finish at Camp Pringle, Shawnigan Lake, on Saturday September 26 and follow an 69km and 119km route respectively.

It will also feature the following:

Friday Movie Night
Complimentary Breakfast before race start
Drink and Food stations spread out on the course
Onsite Bike service
Onsite Bike Wash
Onsite First Aid / First Responders
VELOGUIDE Ride Ambassadors to help you have the best experience
After-race reception Beer and Burger (Non Alcoholic and Vegan options available) (included with entry fee)
Awards Ceremony
Bikepacking / Tenting and limited RV Space.
Optional Onsite cabin lodging (must bring bedding)
