Distances: 125 km

Coming into its sixth year, the Giro della Donna is a weekend-long festival of road and gravel cycling based in the beautiful Yarra Valley town of Warburton, approximately 90 minutes east of Melbourne. It features the Gravel Giro  and Piccolo Giro family ride on the Saturday, a fantastic dinner event Saturday night and the Giro della Donna Road Ride on the Sunday, with plenty of great food, drinks and entertainment along the way!

Starting in the stunning township of Warburton and finishing at the top of Mt Donna Buang, the Giro della Donna is fast becoming one of the most unique and talked-about routes in Australia.

The course is unique in terms of the amount of climbing, the 13km gravel sector, and the true mountain-top finish. This is a challenge for any cyclist, but can be enjoyed by all.

While the route provides a great challenge, it’s the setting that will have you reliving the ride over and again in your mind. After rolling through the furthest reaches of the Upper Yarra Valley you’ll immediately be immersed in temperate rainforest as you tackle the little known Reefton climb, featuring more than 180 corners as it snakes its way toward the Alpine resort of Lake Mountain.

Not far from your pit-stop in the tourist town of Marysville you’ll find yourself among tall-timbered giants on the single-lane Acheron Way. A brief 13km section of road-bike-friendly hard-packed gravel delivers you to the final challenge of the day: a consistent 6% for 8km to the true summit finish at the top of Mt Donna Buang. The only thing left after crossing the line? An incredible 20km descent back into the event village.
