Distances: 7 days

Milan-San Remo also called "The Spring Classic" or "La Classicissima" in Italian, is the longest distance professional one-day race in modern cycling at 298 km (~185.2 miles)

Milan-San Remo is one of the five Monuments of Cycling with the first edition held in 1907.  Eddy Merckx has won MSR a remarkable seven times.

Since Milan-San Remo is the longest professional one-day race, it is an unusual test of endurance early in the season. It is often won not by the fastest sprinter, but by the strongest and best prepared rider with a strong sprint finish. The climbs of the Cipressa and Poggio have stopped many sprinters who could not stay with the front group.   The route is beautiful as it winds down the Italian coast. It is not the hilliest ride but with the distance and short steep punchy hills throughout the ride will make it plenty challenging.

We will first arrive in Milan, at the Malpensa airport and be picked up and transported to 4 days of riding in beautiful Varese, Italy.  We will be staying at a wonderful 4-star hotel with wonderful riding. We'll leave from the hotel and ride the long winding climbs in the mountains surrounding Varese.  In the days leading into the Milan-San Remo Gran Fondo, we will be riding on the same roads that the top cyclists in the world train on. The day before the MSR Gran Fondo we will be transported to the Milan area as we will have an early morning departure for the MSR Gran Fondo.
