Granfondo Leiria Region – Sico Lands is the new name for the succesful Granfondo Coimbra Region that will move to the nearby Leiria region for the 2026 edition of the event. The race is being held over two days and organized by Cabreirasolutions, the organizer of the big mass participation cycling events in Portugal.
The Leiria region in central Portugal is known for its rich history, cultural heritage, and varied landscapes—from medieval castles and riverside squares to pine forests and Atlantic beaches. The city of Leiria itself blends historical charm with a vibrant cultural scene, while serving as a gateway to major attractions in the Centro region. Just north of Leiria lies Pombal, a small historic castle town that grew around its 12th-century Templar-built fortress and later flourished under the influence of the Marquis of Pombal. Today, Pombal offers visitors a mix of heritage sites, traditional crafts, and easy access to surrounding natural areas such as Serra de Sicó, as well as quiet coastal spots like Osso da Baleia Beach. Its central location between Coimbra and Leiria makes it an ideal stop for travelers exploring the region.
