North American Gran Fondo Hall of Fame
These events have established themselves as Premier Gran Fondos in North America, recognized around the world.

Gran Fondo's started to be organized in the U.S. in 2009. Most U.S. Gran Fondo's aren't what they call "True Italian" Gran Fondo's - mainly because the roads aren't fully closed. Italy's cycling heritage allows cities, towns and villages to work together to provide courses on roads with no cars for the duration of the event, such is the popularity and love for cycling!
In 2010 there were a handful of events, now in 2026 there are expected to be around 250+ events in North America alone and the scene is growing very quickly. We aim to make you aware of all the events and news for North America, Australia, Asia, Europe and worldwide.
More and more U.S. Gran Fondo's are adding electronic timing with timed sections, so you can race against the clock, your friends or go for the win! many have age category awards, medals and prizes. If you've never done one, believe us, you won't be disapponted.
Standards vary, so we aim to give a clear and concise guide for each event, so riders know what to expect or in some cases, demand! This doesn't detract from the smaller events, it's all about knowing what you're getting for your money and making the right choices, for you.
You never know - one day you might find yourself in the Italian Dolomites riding a Gran Fondo with 13,500 feet of climbing with thousands of cyclists from all over the world, or travelling to the west coast to try out the Californian climbs, or the east coast Appalachian mountains?
One thing is for sure - cycling is part of our future, in a big way, on a global scale!
Gran Fondo Guide has reached its 14th year of operation, the Worlds Leading Amateur Cycling Platform has reached a global audience of nearly 5.2 million unique users.

By popular demand, the Piccolo Fondo Route is 35 miles and is designed for riders who want a Gran Fondo experience, yet prefer a shorter riding distance, this route features a flat-to-rolling course with one fantastic rest stop and just 1,300 total feet of climbing.
Riders’ favorite rest stop foods include salmon and cream cheese paninis with capers, Nutella strawberry sandwiches, and peanut butter, honey, and banana delights.
All three routes benefit from Course Marshalls, Bike Mechanics, and SAG Vehicles should you land yourself in any difficulty.

Levi's Gran Fondo
In 2024, Levi's GranFondo reimagined professional road racing on American soil by offering a $156,000+ prize purse, and a globally streamed live broadcast that is free to watch.
The event uniquely offers a mass-participation amature Gran Fondo in addition to Skipstone's open Growler Road Race.
2026 will be the 18th edition of the event which provides routes of varying distances to accommodate all levels of cyclists.
Levi's GranFondo long recognized that the popularity of highly publicized American road racing is what inspired the event, and caused it to quickly become one of the most celebrated events in the world 17 years ago.
But road races with media coverage in the United States have vanished from American soil - that was until the 2nd edition of the Growler.

Levi's GranFondo, the annual mass-participation road cycling event in Sonoma County, will livestream the last two hours of its professional road race, The Growler, and will be available to watch globally. The 3rd edition of the Growler race streams April 26, 2026, beginning at 11:00 a.m. PT on levisgranfondo.com.
In a breath-taking display of endurance and skill, Utah native Keegan Swenson captured his second consecutive victory at the Levi’s Gran Fondo Growler race on Saturday, solidifying his status as one of the top gravel competitors in the cycling world

The race, renowned for its challenging mixed surface of 138 miles and a staggering 14,000 feet of climbing, saw Swenson crossing the finish line in an impressive time of 5:55:38, achieving an average speed of 23.3 mph. In a dramatic finale, Swenson caught and dropped competitors Marcis Shelton and Conn McDumphy in the last kilometer, securing a $25,000 winner’s check and the coveted title once again.

The Growler race was open to anyone who wished to compete and there was no requirement to qualify. Professional athletes will race head to head along with others, vying for a slice of a substantial cash purse! Anyone who races the Growler is eligible. This is your chance to shine.
“I knew it was going to be tough, but I was ready for the challenge,” said Swenson after the race. “The competition was fierce, especially with riders like Marcis and Conn pushing me to my limits. Winning this race two years in a row is an incredible feeling, and I’m grateful for the support from my team and fans.”
Conn McDumphy from Ireland secured second with a finish time that earned him $15,000, Marcis Shelton, a promising 20-year-old cyclist from the United States, claimed third place, earning $10,000, while South Africa's Matt Beers rounded out the top four, taking home $7,000.
The Levi’s Gran Fondo attracted over 1,500 riders this year. Participants had the option to choose from several routes, including a 120-mile Gran, an 86-mile Geyers, a 68-mile Medio, and a 45-mile Piccolo, all set against the stunning backdrop of Sonoma wine country, just north of San Francisco.
“This year’s event was nothing short of spectacular,” said Event Director, Carlos Perez, “The atmosphere was electric, and witnessing such fierce competition in the Growler race was a highlight for everyone involved. We are proud to host an event that brings together cyclists from all backgrounds and skill levels to celebrate our shared passion for cycling.”
The Levi’s Gran Fondo continues to grow in popularity, drawing cyclists from across the globe who seek both challenge and camaraderie. With its scenic routes and competitive spirit, the event not only promotes physical fitness but also fosters a sense of community among cycling enthusiasts.
In the women's race Lauren Stephens attacked on the Geysers climb to solo to the finish, ahead of a 5 rider chase group including defending champion Lauren de Crescenzo, Alia Shafi, Sofia Gomez Villafane, Gwendalyn Gibson and Axelle Duau-Prevot. Over 75 women started the pro race, a testament to the sheer demand and popularity of women's racing.

Chapeau to Levi Leipheimer, Bike Monkey and all the race Sponsors for making it the biggest bike race in America!

Why ride Levi’s GranFondo?
Levi's GranFondo has always offered routes for a wide range of fitness and ability levels. From a casual ride on relatively flat ground through the bucolic wine region to the highly competitive.

Sonoma County is home to nearly 1,400 miles of rural roads that wind through 1,700 square miles of stunning landscapes. These roads stretch to remote ridgelines, offering unmatched views and tranquility. They’ve shaped world-class cyclists like Levi Leipheimer, Peter Stetina, Tyler Williams, Luke Lamperti, and siblings Vida and Ian Lopez de San Ramon—many of whom first discovered their potential right here.
But riding these roads in such a fashion as to punish yourself into becoming the next world champion isn’t the right flavor for everyone. The hills, terrain, and logistics of riding such distances, and so remotely can be daunting. That’s where Levi’s GranFondo comes in.
Behind the new Growler race, there is the 11 mile Family route, 22 mile Piccolino, 40 mile Piccolino, 63 miles Medio Fondo, 81 mile Geysers, 120 Gran Fondo and of course the 139 Growler, the toughest route with over 12,000 feet of climbing and includes the torturous climb of King Ridge Road, the endless climbs on Stewarts Point Road and steep 13% gradients of The Geysers.
Everyone will start and finish together. It is the organizers belief that this change is a necessary improvement to the overall feeling of accomplishment at Levi's GranFondo, regardless of which route you challenged yourself to.
The 100 mile Gran Fondo, the biggest and most popular distance, a definitive cycling experience in northern California that mustn’t be missed. From the damp redwood forests at the base of King Ridge to the 360-degree panoramas at the top. And if you think the climbs are amazing, the descents back down to Sonoma will stay with you for the rest of your days!
Ahead of you is an unforgettable day’s cycling, with a mass start, full support on course and full emergency services. Several aid stations, each with whole foods as well as on-bike liquid and gel energy.
What Makes Levi’s GranFondo Different?
When you join, you’re not just riding—you’re part of an extraordinary experience designed to make every mile unforgettable. Seven carefully curated routes—totaling nearly 500 miles—offer something for every rider, whether you're a beginner or a seasoned pro.
With your registration, you get:
- Traffic-controlled roads supported by local police, fire departments, and highway patrol.
- On-course support, including fully stocked aid stations, bike marshals, stationary mechanics, moto support, medical technicians, and amateur radio operators.
- Pro-level details, like professional photography and meticulously marked routes.
- A commemorative experience, featuring custom swag, a water bottle, a post-ride meal and beverage, and a lively festival on the Windsor Town Green.
Beyond the ride itself, Levi’s GranFondo makes a difference. Ten cents for every mile you ride goes directly to at-risk youth through the King Ridge Foundation. Thanks to the support of participants like you, we’ve raised millions of dollars to inspire and empower the next generation of humans, cyclists, and community leaders.
For riders under 18, this experience can be free—thanks to the generosity of those who pay to join. Your registration helps subsidize their participation, opening doors for young riders who might otherwise never have this chance.
Whether you’re a racer or a rider, Levi’s GranFondo and Race is one America’s top rides, make sure you at it your “Bucket List” this April 26, 2026.

Gran Fondo Hincapie-Greenville
2025 marked the 15th edition of Gran Fondo Hincapie-Greenville.
More than 2,000 cyclists from across the United States and abroad converged on Polk County for the 14th Annual Gran Fondo Hincapie–Greenville, celebrating cycling, community and recovery amid the fall colors of the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The weekend-long festival offered scenic routes for riders of all abilities.
The event weekend kicked off with a VIP “Evening with the Stars” dinner presented by The Cliffs, featuring Michelin-starred lead Chef Matthew Accarrino and top Culinary Masters with special guests including the Hincapie family and cycling legends Bobby Julich, Christian Vande Velde and many more famous faces.

The event raised over $900,000 for the Polk County Community Foundation in 2024 to support families and local businesses affected by Hurricane Helene. Hurricane Helene was a devastating tropical cyclone that caused widespread catastrophic damage and numerous fatalities across the South-eastern United States in late September 2024. Helene was one of the deadliest hurricanes to strike the US mainland in the last 50 years. Over 103 people died in North Carolina alone and over 200 people had to be rescued due to floods.
“We’re deeply moved by the generosity of our riders and supporters over the past few years” said George Hincapie, founder of Hincapie Events and former professional cyclist. “It’s a testament to our community’s resilience and to what can be achieved when people come together to help neighbors in need. We were proud to deliver these funds to the Polk County Community Foundation to aid recovery and long-term rebuilding.”
The 15th Anniversary of Gran Fondo Hincapie Greenville will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, in Travelers Rest, South Carolina. This milestone event celebrates a decade and a half of one of the Southeast’s most iconic cycling experiences. Early registration is recommended to secure your spot and a commemorative jersey from Hincapie Sports.

A long weekend festival of cycling and celebration with scenic rides, live music, Michelin star food from famous chefs led by Matthew Accarrino, drinks, and a family-friendly festival atmosphere. Ride through the stunning Blue Ridge Mountains, George Hincapie’s former training grounds for the Tour de France.
Celebrates the enduring bond between cycling and the Greenville community, with a festive atmosphere with food, music, and camaraderie.
Enjoy moderate terrain with rolling hills and sustained climbs. Whether you're a seasoned cyclist or a first-time rider, there's a route to match your goals. The longer distance routes include Skyuka and Saluda, two of the most iconic and challenging climbs in the Blue Ridge Mountains, loved by cyclists for their steep grades and incredible views!
Whether you're chasing a personal best or soaking in the fall colors of South Carolina, Gran Fondo Hincapie Greenville blends elite cycling with Southern hospitality and scenic beauty. If you're planning your 2026 season, this one deserves a top spot on your Bucket List.
It’s the kind of weekend that brings people together—for the love of cycling, for the challenge, and for the community.
It’s more than a ride—it’s a full cycling celebration!

GFNY World Championship NYC
The 2025 Gran Premio New York City was won by Christian Sean of Team Skyline, with Brayan Sánchez (Team Medellín–EPM) finishing 2nd and Kasper Andersen (Swatt Club) taking 3rd.
Gran Premio NYC is held on the same course as the long standing mass participation race "GFNY World Championship NYC”, the world’s most international cycling race with rider from over 90 countries.
2025 marked the 14th edition of the GFNY Championship in New York.
Race week activities are centered around the George Washington Bridge and Fort Lee, New Jersey. The GFNY Village location is easily accessible to both New York City and the beautiful Hudson Valley. Group Rides, the Welcome Zone, Registration and Packet Pickup, NYC Bike Expo and the Bike Zone are all located in the GFNY Village.

On race day, both GP NYC and GFNY start on the iconic George Washington Bridge, the world’s busiest bridge, which gets closed to traffic to provide all racers a once-in-a-lifetime experience. At dawn, GFNY cyclists take their places in their start corrals. The sunrise reveals the skyline of New York City to the south, and the picturesque and historic Hudson Valley to the north. The pros will enter the bridge just before their start at 7am, a mere ten minutes before the mass participation race.
The course takes racers through the historic Palisades and up Route 9W. After the initial 10 miles in northern New Jersey, the race continues in New York State along tree lined roads, rolling hills, and fast flats, at times so close to the banks of the historic Hudson river that you can reach out and touch it.
The climbing begins in earnest at Mott Farm Road. Gate Hill and Cheesecote are the named climbs but there are several others. Winding through picturesque Rockland County, the course will then get back to the Palisades. With two miles to go, the final climb to the finish line in Fort Lee begins.
The entire finish village is alive with music, photos, podium ceremonies and a well-earned post-race meal for all racers. The Drink Stand, Pasta Party, BBQ and Beer and Wine Garden are open to cyclists, families and spectators and have food and drinks available for purchase.
All this makes GP NYC and GFNY an extraordinary, unforgettable bike party and the Mecca of GFNY.

The race unfolded on a fast, urban-to-suburban course, blending flat sections through Manhattan with rolling terrain toward Fort Lee. The peloton stayed largely intact, with several breakaway attempts neutralized by strong team coordination.
Early attacks came from development squads (Alpecin-Deceuninck Dev Team, Nu Colombia), but none gained decisive ground. Team Medellín–EPM and Swatt Club worked to keep the pace high, preventing long escapes.
In the closing kilometers, Team Skyline positioned Christian Sean perfectly. He launched a powerful sprint, holding off Sánchez and Andersen at the line.
Christian Sean’s victory is notable as he’s only 23, marking a breakthrough for Team Skyline on the international stage. The top riders all finished in the same time, showing how tightly contested the sprint finale was.
