YACHATS and WALDPORT, OR — Gear up, gravel enthusiasts! This May, escape the everyday grind and immerse yourself in the breath-taking landscapes of Oregon’s Central Coast.

Join fellow cyclists for the much-anticipated Oregon Coast Gravel Epic on Saturday, May 2nd, and the West Coast Gravel ride on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026, part of the prestigious 2026 Oregon Triple Crown series.

Nestled between the rugged Pacific coastline and the ancient Siuslaw National Forest, the charming towns of Yachats and Waldport provide the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable weekend. Enjoy pristine gravel roads and stunning vistas that will rejuvenate your mind and body, all while discovering the hidden gems of this pristine coastal paradise.

Oregon Coast Epic, Saturday May 2nd 2026

The Oregon Coast Gravel Epic features three distinct routes tailored for all cycling abilities. At 60 miles long with 6,677 feet of climbing, the Abomination route more than lives up to its name and will take 3.5-7 hours for most.

The New Uncle Abomination 49 miles and 5,800 feet is a twist to give those who have done the shorter version a bit more, or on a day that is less than ideal, a good place to cut the course for a quicker return trip. This is your wild and crazy uncle, and you have been warned. LOL

The Son of Abomination is shorter at 37 miles; it is still physically demanding with 3,740 feet of climbing and 3-4 hrs of riding, and just as amazing without quite as many hills with smiles to last all season.

Both routes present cyclists with the thrill of traversing ancient logging roads, with three aid stations for the Abomination and two for the Son, ensuring riders are well-supported throughout their journey.

Post-ride festivities will take place at the Waldport Community Center. Enjoy a local celebration featuring delicious food and beverages, a DJ to keep spirits high, and the coveted Podium Pint glasses awarded to the top three finishers in each division. All participants will receive Custom Woolie Boolie Defeet socks, mechanical and SAG support, as well as chip timing to track your performance.

West Coast Gravel ride on Sunday, May 3rd, 2026

On the second day riders will embark on a thrilling journey that celebrates the spirit of exploration. Located just 9 miles south of Waldport along the iconic Highway 101, Yachats offers a picturesque backdrop for cyclists ready to take on the legendary Erik the Red loop, featuring a challenging 53-mile course, or the less strenuous Leif Erikson route at 32 miles, which includes less gravel and climbing.

“The West Coast Gravel event is not just a race; it’s an adventure,” said Mike Ripley, Director of Mudslinger Events “Riders will experience terrain that has rarely felt the grip of bike tires, all while soaking in the breathtaking beauty of the Oregon Coast. This is a celebration of the gravel cycling community and the great outdoors.”

Both courses promise an exhilarating ride through roads that wind along coastal cliffs and through lush forest trails, ensuring a thrilling experience for all participants. Riders signed up for the Erik the Red loop have the option to customize their journey, allowing them to switch routes if they desire a shorter ride.

West Coast Gravel is committed to making this event enjoyable for everyone, offering multiple age group awards with Podium Pint glasses for all 11 divisions. Custom awards will be presented to the top three finishers in each category, with champions receiving unique glass trophies. Additionally, the overall champions of both the long and short courses will earn free entry to next year’s event, while second and third-place finishers will receive 50% off their future entry.

In addition to the cycling excitement, participants can enjoy live music at the Yachats Common and will receive a $14 food voucher to savor delicious offerings from The Drift Inn or the onsite vendor, Cowgirl Cookin’, with vegan options available. Each entry also includes a custom tri-blend West Coast Gravel shirt, perfect for showcasing your participation in this extraordinary Gravel Fondo.
