2026 UCI Amy’s Great Ocean Road Gran Fondo Results: Dani Chattenton and Leigh Phillips Fastest

The 2026 UCI Amy’s Great Ocean Road Gran Fondo delivered another standout weekend on Victoria’s iconic Great Ocean Road, with riders enjoying fully closed roads, ocean views, and a buzzing event village along the Lorne foreshore. The event continues to be one of Australia’s most popular mass-participation rides, offering distances for every rider: the 130 km UCI Gran Fondo, the 90 km Medio Fondo, the 45 km Piccolo Fondo, and a Gravel Fondo held the day before.

Safety remained central to the event, supported by the Amy Gillett Foundation and its “A Meter Matters” campaign, with all riders completing a mandatory briefing before rolling out. As a qualifier for the 2027 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships in Haute-Savoie, France, thousands of riders were chasing not only personal bests but also top-25% category finishes to secure their place on the start line next year.

In the UCI men’s Gran Fondo, Leigh Phillips claimed overall victory in 03:07:54 after a tight battle among the front group. Benson Crick finished second, twelve seconds behind, with Ryan Wain taking third just one second later. The women’s UCI race saw Dani Chattenton ride clear to win in 03:17:10, followed by Eloise Milbourn in second and Carly Coventry in third after a close sprint for the final podium spot.

The recreation (non-UCI) Gran Fondo saw Chris Fischer take the fastest men’s time in 03:27:12, ahead of Luke McKie and Eric Bouwmeester. Grace Brown led the women’s recreation field in 03:29:05, with Chloe Vale and Emily Matheson completing the top three.

In the Medio Fondo, Paul Kurema set the fastest men’s time in 02:47:10, followed by Keith Macaulay and Steve McCormack. Lisa Robinson topped the women’s Medio Fondo in 02:53:20, ahead of Clare Monaghan and Megan Hunt.

The Piccolo Fondo produced fast times across all ages, with Troy Stan winning the men’s ride in 01:16:38, followed by Mark Hawkins and Patrick Irwin. Trish Prentice led the women’s Piccolo Fondo in 01:21:04, with Tia Bunde and Harriet Craig rounding out the top three.

Many riders were also targeting qualification for the 2027 UCI Gran Fondo World Championships, where only the fastest 25% in each age and gender category secure a place. With divisions stretching from 18–34 right through to 80+, the Great Ocean Road became a proving ground for thousands of amateur cyclists aiming not just for strong results, but for one of the limited start spots available in France next year
