Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc 2027 reveals Gran Fondo World Championship courses

The courses for the Gran Fondo events of the 2027 UCI Cycling World Championships Haute-Savoie Mont-Blanc have been unveiled. Qualified amateur riders from around the world will compete between Thônes and La Clusaz on 22 and 24 August 2027, tackling some of the most iconic climbs of the French Alps.

On 22 August, competitors will face a challenging 12.7 km individual time trial from Thônes to La Clusaz, featuring 432 metres of elevation gain. The uphill course passes through Saint-Jean-de-Sixt before finishing in the heart of La Clusaz.

The flagship Gran Fondo takes place on 24 August, covering 115 km and 3,256 metres of elevation gain. Starting in Thônes and finishing in La Clusaz, the route crosses the Bornes and Aravis mountains and includes four major climbs: the Plateau des Glières, featuring a nearly 2 km gravel sector, the Col des Fleuries, the Brizon climb, and the legendary Col de la Colombière, before a final uphill approach to La Clusaz.

A shorter Medio Fondo route of 80 km with 2,150 metres of elevation gain will be offered for the older age categories. Riders will tackle the Brizon climb and Col de la Colombière before joining the final ascent towards La Clusaz.

Set against the backdrop of the Haute-Savoie mountains, the Gran Fondo events promise a memorable challenge on some of the region’s most renowned cycling roads.
