2026 UCI Gravel Arteaga Mexico Results: Esparza and Castillo Soto take Victory

Mexico hosted its first UCI Gravel World Series round in Arteaga, Coahuila, on Sunday 30 August 2026 — a landmark moment for the country as it joined the global qualifying calendar for the first time. The event also served as the Mexican Gravel National Championships under the Unión Ciclista Mexicana, adding extra significance to every category.

Riders faced a demanding high-altitude course in the Sierra Madre Oriental, with long climbs, thin air, and rugged terrain defining both routes. The 132km Gran Fondo featured around 2,200 metres of elevation, topping out above 2,700 metres, while the 85km Medio Fondo delivered a shorter but still punishing challenge.

The men’s Gran Fondo came down to a dramatic final-kilometre duel. Ulises Alfredo Castillo Soto surged clear in the closing metres to secure the inaugural Arteaga UCI Gravel victory, stopping the clock at 4:16:15. Just one second behind, Jose Antonio Prieto De Luna delivered a huge ride to take second place. Angel Julian Camacho Gutierrez completed the podium after holding off the chasers on the final climb, finishing 8:35 back.
