The second day could be described as a classic transfer stage. Over the Zurich Oberland and through the Canton of Aargau, the route heads towards Aesch BL. However, it would be wrong to underestimate this stage! Here over 2,000 metres of altitude await and it is a constant up and down. The Challpass, which is approached from Laufen, is a tough climb. Mountain sprinters and punchers have an advantage in this section. This has the potential to be an animated stage with a breakaway group that could even hold on until the final extra lap around Aesch.
