The Tour of the Alps 2021 starts off with a climb. The course encloses soft slope which seem designed on purpose for the bravest long-distance attackers, until the road enters Sterzing/Vipiteno. There, after ascending the Eisack/Isarco valleys, the road climbs firmly towards the turns of the Brenner Pass/Passo del Brennero, where the first categorized climb of the 2021 Tour of the Alps is placed. After crossing the Italian-Austrian border, a quick dive will lead to the outskirts of Innsbruck, where riders will continue the race with two laps of a wide circuit characterized by the Axams ascent, the same climb dealt by the riders in the 2019 Innsbruck World Championships’ time trials. The last time atop the hill, located with 18km to the finish line, could become an excellent springboard.
