Quintana wins the Tour de Romandie

Finishing safely in the main peloton on the rain-soaked final stage to Geneva, Nairo Quintana (Movistar) took overall victory at the Tour de Romandie while Michael Albasini (Orica-GreenEdge) took the stage win from the day's early break.

In the first hour of racing Chris Froome (Sky) attacked the main peleton before the two climbs and was joined by Albasini who formed a 10 man breakaway including Verona, Kelderman, Amador, Romain Bardet (Ag2r-La Mondiale), Moreno Moser (Cannondale), Jerome Coppel (IAM Cycling), Sander Armee (Lotto Soudal) and Tsgabu Grmay (Lampre-Merida).

Quintana's Movistar team were happy to let the break go.

Carlos Verona (Etixx-QuickStep) launched and attack in the last 16 km taking Albasini, Wilco Kelderman (LottoNL-Jumbo) and Andrey Amador (Movistar) with him.

The main peleton cranked up the pace trying to pull the break back.

So much so with 600m's to go, BMC’s Tom Bohli printed past the 4 breakaway leaders. A shocked Albasini, drove hard, caught and passed Bolhi in an amazing final sprint.

Nairo Quintana is definately on form and looking good for the Tour de France, in which he finished second over all last year.
