Giulio Ciccone takes Giro stage 10 victory in fine fashion with a solo win

Bob Jungels took the Pink Jersey from teammate Gianluca Brambilla (Etixx – Quick-Step) while Sky's team leader Mikel Landa pulled out, after suffering with stomach problems being dropped early on in the stage

Today’s 219 kilometers in moderate mountains from Campi Bisenzi featured 4 categorized climbs and the first category 1 climb, the Pian Del Falco, just 16km before finish climb up to Sestola.

A 13 man breakaway was established early on.

Giulio Ciccone (Bardiani CSF), Cunego and  Pirazzi went ahead of the breakaway on the Falco to contest the KOM which Cunego won. The three descended but Pirazzi colided with Cunego, misjudging the descent for Ciccone to slip away never to been seen again.

Meanwhile in the peleton, Tom Dumoulin was dropped briefly as Niabli's Astana team put the pressure on the leading contenders.

Brambilla in the Pink Jersey went to the front giving it 100% for team mate Bob Jungels for the ultimate sacrafice - losing the Pink Jersey.

As Ciccone crossed the line and celebrated his win, Amador and Visconti pulled GC teamate and favorite Valverde over the line. Hot on his heels were Fuglsang, Chaves and Nibali who all must have gone at a 100% to try and reduce the time gap on the final climb.

But there was Jungels, who took Pink, from Brambilla who's efforts paid off for the team. Chapeau!
