Miguel Indurain Still Riding Strong at Age 52

At the age of 52, Miguel Indurain, five times winner of the Tour de France, is still a strong cyclist.

"Big Mig" showed some of the power that made him famous more than twenty years in time trials of the Tour de France with routes over 50 km. This time, in the streets of Barcelona he missed his old rivals, Swiss Tony Rominger, the Italian Gianni Bugno and Claudio Chiappucci.

He blitzed his opponents in a 20 km time trial in 26'18 ". To put it another way, he was d 2'47" better than the second rider in a Team Time Trial in Barcelona recently. The advantage was decisive for the team to achieve the final triumph of the day.

The legend downplayed the victory to all the fans and participants watching. Even at age 52 Miguel commented - "I felt very comfortable," he acknowledged, who registered an average speed of 45.6km/h.

Big Mig still maintains an unmistakable style as shown in these two photographs taken 25 years apart.
