The third edition presented by VisitAvilaBeach.com, Oct. 29-30, features three timed routes from 25 up to 100 miles showcasing the scenic Central Coast; free bike valet with drop bags, washing tents and massage in recovery zone and Italian festival of food, wine, craft beer & music; Hearst Cancer Resource Center and ALPHA Foundation local beneficiaries 

AVILA BEACH, Calif. – (October 24, 2016) – The 3rd SLO GranFondo presented by VisitAvilaBeach.com, an annual Fall cycling event produced by Race SLO, expects top teams and hundreds of riders, including professional cyclists Alison Tetrick, Ian Moore, Holly Beck, Matt Bigos, Ina Teutenberg, Neil Shirley and the Clif Bar Team who will all be touring the scenic Central Coast routes ranging from 25 miles to 100 miles on Sunday, October 30 in Avila Beach, Calif. The event weekend also includes an engaging Pro Panel reception from 3:00-5:00pm on Saturday at the Avila Golf Resort, featuring all the pro riders along with author, Tour de France & Tour of California commentator and former professional Bob “Bobke” Roll and USA Cycling’s Bob Stapleton.

3:00pm to 5:00pm

Pro Panel reception featuring special guests Bob Roll & Alison Tetrick and a variety of pro riders at the Avila Beach Golf Resort. Moderated by USA Cycling Chairman Bob Stapleton. Appetizers and wine included. Tickets purchased separately at registration or online; limited seating with capacity for 100 people.

Sunday late registration and packet pick-up at Avila Beach Golf Resort, 10th Fairway, in Avila Beach, CA

Rides

7:00am – SLO GranFondo Early Riser start (100 miles)

7:30am – SLO GranFondo Official Mass start (100 miles)

8:00am – MedioFondo Mass start (61 miles)

8:30am – PiccoloFondo Mass start (25 miles, beginner level)

All rides are timed and all riders will start together by event distance in GranFondo tradition. All rides must be completed by 3:00pm. Full course aid, mechanical and medical support provided.

9:00am to 3:30pm – Festival  Italiano

10th Fairway at Avila Beach Golf Resort in Avila Beach, with a recovery zone and a gourmet Italian meal, local wines & beer plus music & vendors. The festival is open to the public.

1:30pm – Jersey Awards Ceremony

Traditional PINK jerseys will be awarded to the first place male and female overall in each event distance. Also, Queen & King of the Mountain (QOM / KOM) Polka Dot Jersey will be awarded to first place male and female in the GranFondo ONLY. Pro riders will be present to meet and greet.

The event once again benefits two San Luis Obispo non-profits the Hearst Cancer Resource Center and ALPHA Foundation.
