Thousands Of Cyclists Complete The Toughest Edition Yet Of Maserati Tour De Yorkshire Ride

Places for 2018 now available at a special pre-route announcement discount price

Bringing thousands of amateur cyclists together in this unique sportive, the Maserati Tour de Yorkshire Ride offered riders the chance to be on the same roads, on the same day as the professionals alongside Yorkshire hospitality, support and beauty. The morning of Sunday 30th April, saw 3,000 participants cross the start line at Fox Valley in Sheffield, and take on the toughest edition yet of the official sportive of the professional Tour de Yorkshire race.

Riders faced their first challenge within the opening 1.5km, before tackling a number of further significant climbs throughout the route. The last 12 miles of the 100km long-route mixed steep hills and technical descents, with the total elevation reaching a grueling 1,974 m, including climbs such as Netherthong and Ewden Village.

With three distances available ranging from 50 to 100 km, including the Cycletta women’s only wave, the Maserati Tour de Yorkshire Ride provided an unforgettable experience for participants, riding on the same roads as professional cyclists taking part in stage three of the Tour de Yorkshire, and cycling down the same finishing straight with support from thousands of cheering spectators.

Riders were supported with a feed station, stocked with high performance energy products from nutrition partner Science in Sport (SiS), and on completing the course, all participants received a finisher’s medal. Thousands of pounds were also raised by those riders cycling for the official charity partner, Alzheimer’s Society.

“It was fantastic to see so many people taking part in this weekend’s Maserati Tour de Yorkshire Ride,” says Nick Rusling, CEO of Human Race. “This is a challenging course, that requires concentration and pacing to get through the toughest climbs, and an incredible achievement for all those that completed the event. Yorkshire as always provided us with an amazing atmosphere, showcasing its picturesque landscapes and welcoming hospitality.”

Entries are now open for the 2018 Maserati Tour de Yorkshire Ride which will take place over the May Day Bank Holiday weekend next year (on either the 5th or 6th May), at a location in Yorkshire yet to be announced. Three distances will again be available; Short (40-60km), Medium (70-100km) and Long (110-130km). Riders can take advantage of a pre-route announcement discount, and enter at the lowest price available for this iconic sportive.
