Rohan Dennis wins Time Trial as Alaphilippe holds onto Yellow Jersey

Rohan Dennis then set the fastest time 24'16". 17 seconds faster than Andrew Talansky. Alaphilippe finsihed in a a time of 25m 01 secs to stay in the yellow jersey in front of Rohan Dennis by just 16 seconds.

BMC's Taylor Phinney set the fastst time with 24m 36 secs on the 12.4 mile dead flat time trial course, out and back in Folsom. 

Faster split times on the way out indicated that the wind was playing a factor as the GC contenders started with a 2 minute gap.

Jurgen Van Den Broek (Katusha) set the fastest split time on the way out but over a minute down on the line.

Andrew Talansky set a fast split time and powered through on the way back to beat Taylor Phinney's time by 3 seconds

Rohan Dennis (BMC) then set the fastest time 24'16". 17 seconds faster than Andrew Talansky.

Alaphilippe finsihed in a a time of 25m 1 secs to stay in the yellow jersey in front of Rohan Dennis by just 17 seconds.

"We just have to try to crack him" said Rohan Dennis.

It looks as if BMC will have to attack Alaphilippe on Stage 7 and rain is forecast, so descending could be treacherous. Brent Bookwalter and Rohan Dennis could repeatedly attack him. Don't miss it!

The King Stage 7, Sat May 21st

Tomorrow's King Stage of the 2016 AMGEN Tour of California will cover some of the same roads and KOM climbs as the popular annual Levi's GranFondo.
