Tim Alleman retains lead as Nancy Van Der Burg takes over the womens race on stage 2 of the Trilogy de Maurienne
Nancy Van Der Burg from Netherlands took over the women's race lead on Stage 2 of the Trilogy de Maurienne, round 7 of expanding Gran Fondo World Tour ® series.
Belgian rider Tim Alleman reatined his lead in the men's race, he's planing in racing in Canada at the Bluewater International Gran Fondo in August and the final round in South Africa at the Tsogo Sun Amashova Durban Classic in October.
Today's stage saw over 400 riders tackle the mighty “hors category” passes of the Col du Telegraph and Col du Galibier, some of the highest paved roads in Europe, regulary used in the Tour de France.
Tomorrow's shorter final 100k stage still packs in a punch, the first category climbs of the Col de la Croix de Fer and Col du Mollard for the final assault up the HC climb of Montee de la Toussuire ski station before dscending down to Pierrepin for the final climb up to Ct Sorlin d'Araves after 2,000 m of climbing.
