Ackermann does the double as Tom Dumoulin Abandons the Giro
Heavy rain and slippery roads made for a dramatic sprint finish
The stage Flamme Rouge moved to the last lap with 10 kms to go, due to heavy rain. Only the sprinters were and their lead out teams were left to contest it.
Gaviria move up in the final kilometre but ran out of team mates, in the final sprint it was Gaviria who launched first and Ackermann got onto his wheel and came round him to win by half a wheel left.
Viviani was several riders down as seemed not to contest the final sprint due to the cold and bad conditions.
Most riders made for the team buses straight away, visibly shivering from the cold and wet.
Ackemann made it two wins after his previous victory on Stage 2.
Tom Dumoulin climbed off just after the neutralised start, obviously suffering from his injuiries in yesterday's big crash just 6kms before the finish.
