Peter Sagan to attend 2020 Giro d'Italia Presentation
Is three times World Champion going to ride the Corsa Rosa?
The 2020 Giro d'Italia is due to be unveiled on Thursday, and there's speculation the three-time world champion will make his debut at the corsa rosa next year from Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport
Giro organisers RCS Sport will unveil the 21 stages that will make up the 103rd edition in Milan this Thursday.
Joining Peter Sagan in the audience will be 2019 Giro d'Italia champion Richard Carapaz.
Sagan has won a record seven green jerseys at the Tour de France, but has yet to ride the Giro.
Sagan has never raced the Giro, preferring to focus on the Spring Classics before taking a break ahead of building up to the Tour de France.
Sagan was in Italy earlier this month for an appearance at the Trento Festival of Sport, during which he claimed Italy felt like "home".
Peter Sagan used to live in the north east Italy and speaks Italian and ride for Team Liquigas.
Already confirmed ahead of the presentation is the first three stages in Hungary.
The Giro starts on Saturday, May 9th, 2020 with a 9.5km individual time-trial on the streets of the capital Budapest with a slightly uphill finish of 4%, starting from Heroes’ Square (UNESCO World Heritage). The second stage is 193 km from capital Budapest, north west to the main city of Gyor.
The third stage is 197km and starts in the city of Szekesfeherva, along the Lake Balaton, and heads south west to Nagykanizsa, a bunch sprint is expected.
Sagan could take the Pink Jersey over these opening Sprint stages.
