SBT GRVL® Presented by Wahoo Launches Junior Development Scholarship

SBT GRVL® presented by Wahoo, the premier gravel cycling event, today announced the launch of its new Junior Development Scholarship Program, a new initiative designed to help young riders enter the world of gravel racing and gain valuable exposure to the broader cycling community on the world stage.

Applications are now open through February 14th, 2026, and six junior athletes, three young women and men under the age of 19 will be selected to receive complimentary entries to race the SBT GRVL® Black Course on June 28, 2026. No prior race experience or official team affiliation is required.

“The future of gravel racing depends on creating real opportunities for young athletes,” said Amy Charity, founding partner and CEO of SBT GRVL®. “For young athletes racing on the road or mountain, there’s a clear development path, but that journey is less defined in gravel cycling. We created this scholarship program to provide junior riders access to a world-class event, valuable race experience, and an opportunity to showcase their talent in front of the industry’s top sponsors, media and athletes.”

Selected athletes will have the opportunity to take on the renowned SBT GRVL® Black Course, a demanding and iconic route that showcases the rugged terrain and beauty of Routt County. Scholarship recipients are encouraged to share their personal stories through the application process, including why they want to race in Steamboat Springs and what they hope to accomplish throughout the 2026 season and into the future.

By investing in junior athletes, SBT GRVL® p/b Wahoo continues to expand its mission by building pathways for inclusivity, participation, fostering mentorship, and strengthening the future of the gravel cycling community.

Junior athletes interested in applying can find more information and submit their applications at https://www.sbtgrvl.com/2026-junior-scholarship-program.
